EVENT DATE: Apr 07, 2013
As you all know, I am very passionate about protecting and repairing our most precious commodity – Mother Ocean. My favorite moments are spent watching the sunrise over the ocean to welcome a new day, scuba diving in the underwater wonderland especially among the breath-taking sea life and our magnficent-yet-endangered coral reefs, paddleboarding with my pug and sailing on the bay by my home in Miami. So, I am very proud of the work I do both personally and on behalf of Burgess to raise awareness and enable contributions that help make a difference in Oceana’s campaigns (like permanently ending the destructive trawling in the Belize Barrier Reef - where this photo was taken!). Let’s help Oceana’s tremendous efforts to give our children the healthiest Ocean possible, along with the education on how to maintain and improve upon this for future generations! Two years ago, I was part of "Team Burgess" in a relay version of the 2011 Nautica South Beach Triathlon (along with friend & colleague Tom Collins) and we managed to raise $800 for our oceans! Last year, I ran this race solo and due to the overwhelming generosity of my friends, family and colleagues (especially KM!!) - raised $3,000! This year, both Tom Collins and I are doing the triathlon on our own! This year, I'm determined to finish among the first 1,000 athletes - and raise $5,000!! Due to a very busy schedule, I started my fundraising (and training) efforts very late this year. While you guys can't help me improve my freestyle, you can help me reach for my fundraising goals. Please help me make an even bigger positive impact this year by contributing to Oceana and their efforts to "Save Our Oceans!!!"
