Ovarian Cancer Research Fund is the largest charity in the United States funding Ovarian Cancer Research. OCRF supports scientific research that leads to more effective identification, treatment and ultimately a cure for ovarian cancer, as well as related educational and support initiatives.
Ovarian cancer is a devastating disease that causes more deaths per year than all other gynecologic cancers combined and it is the 5th leading cause of cancer death among women. Since 1998, OCRF has awarded 194 grants totaling over $50 million for ovarian cancer research at more than 60 leading medical centers. Less burdened by the bureaucracy inherent in government grant programs, OCRF is far more nimble in its ability to recognize and fund the most novel approaches, which are more likely to lead to major advances in the fight against ovarian cancer. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, our investigators are developing innovative strategies for early detection; exploring the genetics that increase risk for ovarian cancer; understanding the underlying molecular biology of the disease; identifying new and better targets for treatment; and deciphering how and why ovarian cancer spreads, and how to stop it. OCRF has been named a four-star charity by Charity Navigator and 89% of every dollar that we raise goes directly to support our research grants program. The pace of scientific progress is accelerating rapidly and we find ourselves on the cusp of a rush of discovery in the fight against this disease. Now is a crucial time to support OCRF’s many passionate investigators because they need the resources to break new ground and change the future of ovarian cancer. We are truly touched and driven every day by the many passionate survivors, and by the dedicated people who have lost their mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, grandmothers, and friends to this terrible disease, and continue to fight in their names.
Please join us in the fight by becoming a member of OCRF Team Hope Peachtree 2013 or by making a donation in support of one of our runners.
