CORNER OF LOVE MINISTRIES wrote -Calling all amigos – nuevos y viejos – from our old stomping grounds of Maple Valley, WA! This trip is open to volunteers from the community of Maple Valley and environs, where Corner of Love was born! Anyone residing in the Renton-Bellevue-Issaquah-Sammamish area, and those connected to Week 3 participants or Jennifer Hassmann (Team Leader) may apply. This fast-paced team with lots of Washington families and teens typically includes both medical and dental professionals and is one of Corner of Love’s biggest annual groups. In 2016 we expect 70-80 participants that we will break into three or four service teams. Each of these small groups will serve in different villages daily under the leadership of seasoned team leaders. In years past we have equipped the blue team, green team, red team, and purple team, serving as many as 10,000 impoverished Nicaraguans in one week! As part of The Team of Servants Week 3, you’ll experience seven days of hard work that is amazingly rewarding. We’ll carry out four medical-dental clinics in rural, mountainous communities where families survive on less than $1 U.S. per day and most lack basic needs like clothing, potable water, and medicine. Each day we’ll pack our supplies, load them onto trucks and buses, and venture out to set up these mobile clinics that offer stations like height and weight, visual acuity, general medicine, dental care, pharmacy, clothing, prayer station, and more. One day of clinic will also be held at our own facility, Plaza de Bondad on La Lima River (one kilometer from our Quinta). As always, we do NOT only need healthcare professionals, we also need general volunteers who are willing to help count pills and vitamins, organize the pharmacy, sort shoes and donations, and run the clinics. We have many jobs like filling goodie bags, sorting charts, separating toiletries, etc. that do not require healthcare knowledge. Of course there is a huge need for doctors, dentists, and nurses, too! Help us glorify God and come and serve with us! This popular week that encompasses the Presidents Day holiday and offers excellent, sunny (but not so hot) weather in Nicaragua fills up fast. Get your application in early to reserve your spot.
