At this year’s Rivals United for a Kure gala, we’ll be honoring USC Coach John Robinson and UCLA Coach Terry Donahue. In the spirit of the storied USC/UCLA rivalry, I've challenged my friend and co-chair Matt Stevens (former UCLA QB) to see who can raise more money in honor of their coach. These two legends are tied (5-5) against each other, but this is our chance to get one more victory for Coach Robinson.
Last year I joined filmmaker Jack Baric and my good friend Barry Hoeven—who has been battling kidney cancer for 14 years—to raise money for underfunded cancer research. We formed Rivals United for a Kure to coincide with the release of Jack’s new film A City Divided, a documentary about the USC/UCLA football rivalry.
We raised $300,000 and the donations were given directly to underfunded cancer research at USC's Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center and UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. This year, with your help, we’re on track to raise $500,000 to find new treatments and “kures” for those battling cancer.
