THE STORY:

THE PITTSBURGH PARKS CONSERVANCY wrote -

Join Team Pittsburgh Parks at the 2013 Pittsburgh Marathon and help us raise more money than ever before.

Click the big DONATE button or go one step further and help us fundraise by joining the team. You'll get your own fundraising page to share with all your amazing family and friends.

The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy was founded in December 1996 by a group of citizens concerned with the deteriorating conditions of Pittsburgh's parks. In 1998, the Parks Conservancy signed an official public-private partnership agreement with the City of Pittsburgh to work together for the restoration of the city's four regional parks - Frick, Highland, Riverview, and Schenley. Since then, the Parks Conservancy has raised more than $60 million toward park improvements, and has recently expanded into other city parks as time and resources permit.

The non-profit organization is celebrated for its historically based restoration projects which include the Frick Park Gatehouse at Reynolds Street, the Highland Park Entry Garden, the Walled Garden at Mellon Park, the Riverview Park Chapel Shelter, and the return of Schenley Plaza from a parking lot in Oakland. The work also includes the restoration of more than 7 miles of trails throughout Pittsburgh's regional parks.
