BENEFITING: PROJECT PURPLE
ORGANIZER: PROJECT PURPLE
EVENT: Marine Corps Marathon 2013
EVENT DATE: Oct 27, 2013
I have decided to conquer my FIRST FULL MARATHON; however, to make this experience even better, I've joined Team Project Purple. Team Project Purple and I will be running 26.2 miles at the Marine Corp Marathon in Washington D.C. while fundraising to put an end to pancreatic cancer.
Project Purple is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization with a mission of raising awareness and funds towards a cure for pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer is the 4th largest killer of all cancer killers and the least funded of the top 10 cancers. It is also the only cancer in the top 10 killer with a single digit survival rate after 5 years. About 43,920 new cases of pancreatic cancer occur each year in the United States according to the American Cancer Society.
By donating to Team Project Purple, your charitable donation will be used for the follow:
1. Scholarship Programs – we provide scholarships to children and grandchildren that have lost a loved one to pancreatic cancer or have a loved one fighting.
2. Patient Financial Aid Program – we provide families fighting pancreatic cancer with financial aid to help pay the every day bills so families can focus on fighting rather than worrying about paying these bills.
3. Research for a Cure - we provide funding for research projects that show promise in finding a cure, an early detection test, or improving the quality of life for people with pancreatic cancer.
Click the big DONATE button to help me reach my goal of $1,000 by October 1, 2013.
Thank you all for the support!
