EVENT: Marine Corps Marathon 2013
EVENT DATE: Oct 27, 2013
Selfless in his help of others, Mr. Campbell was a MASTER Educator. Diagnosed on April 4, 2011 with this horrific disease, he was tenacious in his valiant four month fight. When he called me to let me know of the devastating prognosis, he said "I am going to fight this with EVERYTHING I've got. But, if I don't beat it, I hope the doctors can use me to help someone else." WOW! What incredible strength and tenacity. He was my teacher, my mentor, my colleague and friend for 42 years. I owe so much of who I am and how I have approached my teaching to him. He suffered for 4 months before pancreatic cancer took him on July 30, 2011. Robbie has seen first-hand the impact Mr. C had on me. We have decided to join forces and commit to running the MCM in honor of Mr. Campbell.
We ask all of those who were also impacted by the life of Mr. Chuck Campbell to support our quest for helping Project Purple raise funding to 1) research for a cure, early detection, or simply to improve the quality of life for people with Pancreatic Cancer, 2) provide families fighting PC with financial aid to help pay everyday bills, and, 3) provide a scholarship program to children and grandchildren that have lost a loved one to this 4th largest killer of all cancers. We need your help: Pancreatic Cancer is the least funded of the top ten cancers and unfortunately it is also the only cancer in the top 10 killers with a single digit survial rate after 5 years. Please help today!
