Hello Family & Friends!
On June 16, 2014 our finance team at Erickson will hold an inaugural charity event that will benefit Alzheimer's Disease research. We will participate in a reflective, nature trail walk through beautiful Patapsco Valley State Park in Maryland, as well as provide activities to participants to increase awareness.
Much can be said about the need for support to fight this devasting disease. The number of Americans with Alzheimer's and other dementias will escalate rapidly in coming years as the baby boomer generation ages. By 2050, the number of people age 65 and older with Alzheimer's disease may nearly triple, from 5 million to as many as 16 million. It is the most expensive condition in the nation. In 2014, the direct costs to American society of caring for those with Alzheimer's will total an estimated $214 billion, including $150 billion in costs to Medicare and Medicaid. Despite these staggering figures, Alzheimer's will cost an estimated $1.2 trillion (in today's dollars) in 2050. Nearly one in every five dollars spent by Medicare is on people with Alzheimer's or another dementia.
ALL donations will go to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund, which is an organization dedicated to ensuring that ALL contributions received go directly to funding research. Administrative costs are paid for by members of their Board of Directors, rare to find that at most charities.
Will you kindly support me & my co-workers' efforts to help our Seniors, as well as generations to come, fight this disease? Any amount is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
