EVENT DATE: Nov 07, 2010
2010 is the first year that a team of dedicated and talented staff from Franziska Racker Centers will be joining together to run in the NYC Marathon. Our runners are supporting the the vision of our founding families; that all people with disabilities will be valued members of a welcoming and supportive community.
The team is raising money for Franziska Racker Centers "Making Room" campaign that will reconfigure and renovate our 50 year old 27,000 square foot preschool facility and will create a new Learning Center with two training areas that can accommodate staff and community for expanded trainings and education.
The name of the team for the event is derived from The Circle of Courage, which comes from the Native American culture representing the wholeness of life. The quadrants of the circle represent four basic human needs: independence, belonging, mastery, and generosity. As we grow, develop and learn, all aspects of the Circle of Courage are fostered and incorporated into our daily work at Racker Centers.
