The Rett Racers are a group of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers for the Rettsyndrome.org who are raising vital research dollars while training for distance events like the Louisiana Marathon. Rettsyndrome.org is thrilled to be an official charity partner of the Louisiana Marathon. Help make this an outstanding showing for Rett syndrome and Rett syndrome research. About Rett syndrome
Rett syndrome is a rare non-inherited genetic postnatal neurological disorder that occurs almost exclusively in girls and leads to severe impairments, affecting nearly every aspect of the child’s life: their ability to speak, walk, eat, and even breathe easily. The hallmark of Rett syndrome is near constant repetitive hand movements while awake.
Rettsyndrome.org, a 501c(3) non-profit corporation registered as the International Rett Syndrome Foundation, is the most comprehensive non-profit organization dedicated to providing thorough and accurate information about Rett syndrome, empowering families, and stimulating research aimed at accelerating treatments and a cure for Rett syndrome and related disorders. Rettsyndrome.org has funded over $34M in high-quality, peer-reviewed research grants and programs to date making it the world’s leading private funder of basic, translational, neuro-habilitation and clinical Rett syndrome research. Rettsyndrome.org hosts the largest global gathering of Rett researchers and clinicians to establish research direction and priorities while exchanging ideas and the most recent information. Rettsyndrome.org has earned Charity Navigator’s most prestigious 4 star rating six years in a row. Only 3% of charities evaluated by Charity Navigator achieve this rating in six consecutive years.
