M O B R O L L

(Search: MOBROLL 2012 on facebook for info)

is an extended May Day critical mass on Bicycles.  It’s the Puget Sound’s own private DIY music, arts, & film tour.  It’s a seaside marathon zig-zaging from house-shows, to art spaces, to coffee shops, to music venues, all by bike, and enmasse.

Mobroll has been created by Bombus Bikes & Jet Set Raw records to be an annual Spring ride/music tour that renews & facilitates the strong network of independent makers and d.i.y.ers  that make Puget Sound culturally dope.

The tour is the first two weeks of May and covers 9 of the Puget Sound’s seaside towns.  Each tour date includes a bike ride hosted by a local bike-shop and multiple events in town (within riding distance) during the day and into the night.

Participants are encouraged to show up with bikes for the town rides and for use between shows.  They can also join the tour for a few days (or the whole tour) and ride with friends to the next round of shows.

Music includes hip-hop, punk rock, roots americana, indy, folk, rock, funk, spokenword, electro artists and everything inbetween.

Roll’em Shorts : Short Film Reel

is Mobroll’s short-film showcase featuring local Puget Sound film-makers with an emphasis on animation.  Contact mobroll2012@gmail.com for submission info.

Riders for Makers

is a fundraising marathon during Mobroll where riders can form teams that raise money by the mile for grants of $250 or $500 for makers (welders, musicians, etc) in WA state.

How Riders for Makers works.  Co-Sponsored by The HUB community bikeshop

1.    Form a team (2-5 riders) and register on www.crowdrise.com with Mobroll.

2.    Name your team (not after a company or business)

3.    Pick a team captain to represent your team and be a liason with Mobroll.

4.    email mobroll2012@gmail.com to register and receive instructions

5.    As individual riders: ask friends, familiy, and the community to pledge cents on the dollar per mile you intend to ride on the Mobroll route.

6.    Do the math – as a team are you riding far enough with enough pledges to make a grant or multiple grants for the d.i.y. makers that apply?  If not we’ll problem solve together.

7.    Tell the makers you know to contact mobroll2012@gmail.com and receive an application to submit to be considered for grants.

8.    Ride with Mobroll – have a great time – help people in your community continue to make.

Note: Grants are open to all-ages and WA state residents only.  Three anonymous MOBROLL judges will be asked to each anonymously & independently review the grant applications and choose the recipient of the grant.
