BENEFITING: RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE OF NEW YORK
ORGANIZER: RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE OF NEW YORK
Thank you to everyone who helped me raise over $2000 last year for this great cause. Unfortunately as you know, the marathon could not be held because of Sandy and I couldn't make good on my promise to finish my first marathon, propelled by the knowledge that I was not only doing it for myself, but also while raising funds for a charity that was very important to my friend Adam Bonanno. However, this year we have the opportunity to work together again to raise even more for the RMHNY. With your support, I hope to beat last year's fundraiser and raise over $2500. While I'm not looking to finish in the 3:30 I was hoping for last year (maybe closer in the 4:45 area), with your support propelling me along the way, I will finish. Thanks again and below I repost last year's plea for your support.
Since I started running a few years ago I have logged thousands of miles in pursuit of my goal of one day running the NYC Marathon. The day has finally arrived and I am running my first marathon on November 4, 2012.
While I have raised money for various charities in connection with a few races along the way to achieving this goal, I couldn't help but think my marathon run was a great opportunity to try to make my biggest impact yet to a worthy cause.
I've decided to dedicate my run to my oldest and dearest friend Adam Bonanno who passed away in 2010. Adam regularly volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House New York and this charity was very important to him. For those of you who are not familiar with the Ronald McDonald House, they provide a temporary “home-away-from-home” for pediatric cancer patients and their families. The House is a supportive and caring environment which encourages and nurtures the development of child-to-child and parent-to-parent support systems. Ronald McDonald House New York is the largest facility of its type in the world.
I have visited the RMHNY and it is an impressive facility. Let's all work together to ensure that this noble organization can continue its charitable mission. Please check out my personal donation page at: http://www.crowdrise.com/fundraiser/edit/teamronaldmcdonaldhousenyc2013/erickosta
Thanks for your support.
All the best,
