BENEFITING: Rosie's Theater Kids
ORGANIZER: Rosie's Theater Kids
Many of you are aware of my relentless passion for arts education and keeping the arts (music, visual art, theatre, and dance) in public schools. As a teacher for the New York Public Schools, I have witnessed the value of an arts education and the impact it makes on a student’s social, emotional, and academic growth.
This fall, I will be running the New York City Marathon (26.2 miles) to raise money for Rosie’s Theater Kids, an arts education organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children through the arts. Rosie’s Theater Kids offers classes in dance and music and a professional theater experience for children who might otherwise not have the opportunity. Its goal is to inspire excellence, motivate learning, uplift the human spirit, and to instill a lifelong appreciation for the arts. I will be running to support a student of mine as well as other underprivileged kids of New York City to participate in this program, many of whom do not have any arts courses in their school. I have set a goal of $2,500 to be raised by November 6th, 2011.
I ask that you please take the time to browse this website and consider making a donation to keep the arts alive for the children of New York City. I thank each of you from the bottom of my heart for you consideration and I’ll definitely need some support along the race route on Nov. 6th.
