WHAT WE DO:
We swab cheeks. Ok, funny, not those cheeks. We swab mouth cheeks, on your face, so you can join the national bone marrow registries. We inspire people to do this through endurance sports. Endurance sports is a loose term, especially if you are not into sports. So you can inspire a friend to join by walking around the neighborhood, up hill both ways, in the cold, for 2 hours. Or you can do what our founder did which is the Ironman World Championships. It took him nearly 14 hours to swim 2.5 miles, bike 112, and run 26.2 in 120 degree heat and 40 mile per hour winds, but he did it. And over 2,200 people have been inspired to join the national marrow registry along the way. You don't have to do that, but you can do any event you like, and get friends, family co-workers etc... to support you and Racing To Register by donating here. And if you don't, you don't have to buy them a present ever again. Or you can convince them that over 10,000 people every year come to the registries seeking a donor, and only 40% will find a suitable match, For most, this is their only chance of survival of a blood cancer. You can also tell them that every 10 seconds someone dies from a blood cancer and every 5 seconds someone is diagnosed with one. And oh yeah, you can tell them that through the help of donors like them, RTR has registered 2,200 people, and provided gifts and wishes such as phone calls from World class athletes, signed jersey from Lance Armstrong, and trips to resorts to kids suffering from blood cancers. So tell them to get in it and support you....and we support and thank you also...you are awesome!
