Time to continue getting some support for Racing to Register as I run the Marine Corp Marathon this Sunday.. As the reality that I am going to run 26.2 sinks in, I realize I also need to do a little more fundraising.
Latest update: Well I am now in the taper and preparing for the longest run of my life. I have already completed training runs of 15, 17, 18, 19 and 20 miles over the last several weeks. Everyone says I am ready. We will see.
Enough about me though. Let's get some donations going so we can help the people who really need it.
Tom Kramer, a high school friend of mine, has a charity called Racing to Register which is dedicated to ridding the world of blood born cancers. His story is far more inspirational than mine will ever be. If you prefer video, check this out to really understand what this is all about.
This is the deal I'll make with you. If you donate, I will let you know all about the trials and tribulations of training for a marathon at my advanced age while juggling a full time job and a family of six. You get to laugh at my foolishness while knowing you have helped save lives. Really, it seems like a no brainer to me.
I will also be training with a few other middle aged men who are attacking their first marathon in DC. Ed Chanda and Eric Barto will be running for Wounded Warriors. If we manage to rope some additional people into our little group we will also let you know.
