BENEFITING: RACING TO REGISTER
EVENT DATE: May 17, 2013
This is not your usual fund raising effort...not even close...12 people have chosen to run 200 miles, as a team, to help inspire people to join the National Bone Marrow Donor Registry...all in 24 hours!
Read below, see their commitment, and please donate to support them as well as Racing To Register's continued efforts to increase the number of eligible donors on the Registry. As you read, keep in mind that in the last year TEAM RTR participants have helped us register over 2,750 people and find 10 matches, 2 of which went to transplant in late 2012.
The RTB Relay: Wachusett to Westport will take place in Massachusetts, starting in Princeton, MA at the Mount Wachusett Ski Area and finishing at Horseneck Beach State Reservation in Westport, MA. The relay will consist of (a maximum of) 12 person teams that will rotate through 36 transition areas as they cover the approximate 200 mile distance of the race. This means that each relay team member will run 3 legs of varying lengths and difficulty and will cover an average total distance of ~15 miles. There will also be an Ultra Distance division that will have a team limit of 6 members. In this case, the average distance covered per Ultra Distance Team runner would be ~ 30 miles. The runners will rotate in a set order once the race begins and will be obligated to follow this rotation until the final runner Reaches the Beach!
