Each May, nearly 15,000 runners gather in Brooklyn, New York to run the Brooklyn Half Marathon. For many runners, that 13.1 miles (and hundred+ miles of training it takes to get there!) is an opportunity to raise money for a cause that matters to them and their community. This year, CALA has formed a team of staff, board members, clients, and friends to run and raise money in support of CALA.
Why? Because refugees facing deportation deserve competent representation, regardless of whether they can afford a private attorney. And, because 13.1 miles is nothing compared to the thousands that refugees travel fleeing persecution to seek protection in the United States.
