BENEFITING: STRAY RESCUE OF ST LOUIS
ORGANIZER: STRAY RESCUE OF ST LOUIS
EVENT: 2015 GO! FOR A CAUSE
This April, I will be running the Go! St. Louis Half Marathon. While I have run it in the past, this year I am running to raise money for the no-kill organization Stray Rescue. My goal is to raise $500 or more and all money will go directly to the shelter. As a huge animal lover, and an owner of 2 rescued dogs, I am excited to run for a good cause. I hope that you can help me reach my goal!
The idea is simple but the rewards are huge. Team Running Buddies members commit to raising funds as participants in the GO! St. Louis 5k, Half Marathon, Marathon Relay, or Marathon. The money they raise will be used to strengthen enrichment programs and medical care at Stray Rescue, which are vital to the rehabilitation process of those we rescue and ensure an ultimately healthy environment for the dogs. Our participants are key members of a fun, energetic, and compassionate team that will enhance the lives of homeless companion animals and help more of them find loving homes!
Stray Rescue's sole purpose is to rescue stray animals in need of medical attention, restore them to health, and place them in loving adoptive homes. Virtually all of the pets we save have been abused and neglected. They've been dumped on highways, or remote country roads. Abandoned in public parks, empty houses and dark alleys. We've even saved dogs left chained behind buildings after their owners had moved away.
Rescued animals often make the best pets. As a no-kill organization, pets from Stray Rescue seem to understand that they have a second lease on life. In return for a little affection and attention, these remarkable animals reward their new owners with a love and loyalty unmatched anywhere.
And new to this year's team are the Buddy Boosters! This is a great way for people to be on Team Running Buddies if running just isn't their thing. As Buddy Boosters, participants will serve the important role of inspiring and cheering on those who are racing, all while raising additional funding for shelter training and enrichment programs and medical care.
And remember; stop by Stray Rescue's Pine Street shelter to jog with a dog in our Running Buddies In-Shelter Enrichment Program! This program is a fun, unique, and meaningful way to stay in shape while enriching the lives of shelter dogs as they await their loving forever homes. All participants have to do is visit Stray Rescue’s Pine Street shelter (2320 Pine Street, St. Louis, MO) and “check out” their buddy… then they’re off and running!
