The Story

EVENT DATE: Jul 24, 2016

Team RWB RAGBRAI Lead - Amanda

Team RWB Midwest is hosting riders from across the nation as they participate in the Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) held July 24-30 2016. What Is RAGBRAI? RAGBRAI is a non-competiive bicycle ride started 43 years ago and is the world's oldest, largest, and longest bicycle event in the world. Started by two newspapr columnists with the Des Moines Register, RAGBRAI has become an opportunity to tur Iowa with 10,000 of your closest cycling friends. Events like RAGBRAI are a critical piece of who we are as an organization and our mission to enrich the lives of veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activities.

This year's route covers 419.9 miles of beautiful Iowa countryside with a total climb of 18.488 feet but don't let that scare you off! If you are worried about being able to complete the distance, just follow the RAGBRAI training blog for tips and distances that you need to be riding.

Team Red, White, and Blue  (Team RWB) enriches the lives of America's Veterans through physical and social activities. With chapters across the globe, Team RWB builds a community veterans and civilians by offering the shared athletic and social experiences. Team RWB members are often seen in the community wearing their red shirts with the Eagle logo while running, but we are much more than a running group.  In the Midwest we run, we cycle, we tri, we yoga and CrossFit, share meals, discuss books, and do service projects. We are a community where you can come as you are, build physical fitness, a strong social network, and sense of purpose. Our Goals

1. Build team camaraderie, engagement, and awareness for Team RWB

2. Foster a unique, supportive, inclusive and encouraging experience for riders of all levels

3. Demonstrate and abide by the Eagle Ethos across the State of Iowa as representatives of Team RWB
