EVENT DATE: Nov 01, 2014

This year's No Stomach For Cancer worldwide walk is taking place on Saturday, November 1. This charity raises money to create awareness of the disease and fund research for a cure.
The story - in February, Sally was diagnosed with stomach cancer, the second leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide. In American the disease is less common because of better food safety and handling. Unfortunately, for a small percentage of stomach cancer patients, the disease is linked to a genetic component.
Sally's father, Harry died from stomach cancer in 1978 at age 54. Sally is a CDH1 gene carrier and her children and siblings are currently being tested for the gene. If they have the gene they have an extremely high risk of Hereditary Diffuse Gastric Cancer (HDGC) and would have to undergo a prophylactic gastroectomy.
