This year's No Stomach For Cancer worldwide walk is taking place on Saturday, November 1. This charity raises money to create awareness of the disease and fund research for a cure.
The story - in February, Sally was diagnosed with stomach cancer, the second leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide. In American the disease is less common because of better food safety and handling. Unfortunately, for a small percentage of stomach cancer patients, the disease is linked to a genetic component.
Sally's father, Harry died from stomach cancer in 1978 at age 54. Sally is a CDH1 gene carrier and her children and siblings are currently being tested for the gene. If they have the gene they have an extremely high risk of Hereditary Diffuse Gastric Cancer (HDGC) and would have to undergo a prophylactic gastroectomy.
We will meet at (TBA-Millburn area) and we'll take a short walk (less than 3 miles) while enjoying the autumn colors.
There are two ways to support:-
1) JOIN THE TEAM by registering for the walk (details below) at No Stomach for Cancer and then creating your personal fundraising page on Sally's team here at crowdrise; or
2) DONATE using the ORANGE BUTTON to the right.
REGISTRATION: Full Registraion, which includes a shirt, wrist bands, magnets, and awareness cards, is $45 for adults, and $30 for children. Register by OCTOBER 1 to be sure to receive your gear before the walk. Register for the walk before October 1st using this link: REGISTER.
