Running the Distance for Suicide Prevention!!
Please join me in the fight for hope and happiness!
On November 5, 2011 my seemingly unbreakable family lost my cousin Kenny to suicide. He was a remarkable individual whose life still continues to inspire each one of us. This year I am running the Boston Marathon on behalf of Samaritans Inc., a volunteer organization dedicated to decreasing the incidence of suicide and assisting those who battle with crisis every day. Every mile that I track along the way will be dedicated to Kenny and to my AMAZING family whose strength and faith that I have witnessed in the last year has left me truly inspired.
I am running to represent hope for all of the men and women whose lives are blinded by their suffering, as well as the families of lost loved ones trying to clear through the fog of unanswered questions. Through my involvement with CrisisLink in Arlington, VA I have witnessed firsthand the same incredible, lifesaving resources that Samaritan's 24 hour helpline provides. Samaritans also provides prevention services that provide hundreds of Community Education and Outreach workshops annually, and Grief Support Services that provide support to thousands of those who have lost a loved one to suicide.
Please help me to inspire the people in our lives to open their doors and talk as we lift the stigma and help fight this battle against suicide.
All funds raised will go directly to Samaritans' suicide prevention services and the many lifesaving resources that this incredible non-profit, volunteer, organization provides.
