I am running the 2013 Boston Marathon to raise money for the Samaritans, a charity that works for suicide prevention. I will raise at least $5,000 for their important services and need your support to reach this goal by April 15th. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated!
I am very excited to be running the Boston Marathon in 2013. I have found watching the Boston Marathon to be incredibly inspiring year after year. This year I have finally decided to run it for a variety of reasons. Most importantly, I cannot think of a better or more inspiring charity to run on behalf of. As many of you know, I been involved with the Samaritans since 2006. I volunteered on their helpline for 2 and half years, answering calls from those who are depressed, lonely, or having suicidal thoughts. I have also run their annual 5K for many years.
Although I no longer work with the helpline, I still feel that I carry on their mission through my work as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Running the marathon is a new way for me to help people who are struggling, while at the same time achieve one of my personal goals. Please consider donating whatever you can to help me support this important organization and the work they do. Thank you for your support.
