BENEFITING: THE SERGEANT THOMAS JOSEPH SULLIVAN CENTER
EVENT: Marine Corps Marathon 2013
EVENT DATE: Oct 27, 2013
Did you know there are 478,267 Veterans Known to be Suffering from Undiagnosed Post-Deployment Illnesses. Having learned this, Sgt. Sullivan's family founded the Center in his memory as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving health outcomes for veterans with emerging post deployment health. concerns – working with veterans, healthcare providers, and researchers to find a way to provide real help for veterans with complicated health problems.
After becoming very ill in September 2011- I decided that when I was well I would get healthy! After 6 months of antibiotics, rest and a lot of prayers I embarked on my running journey at first just to loose weight and get fit in Feb. 2012. I had no idea I would love running so much and after my first race in July 2012 a 5 mile run... I was hooked, I completed multiple 5k's, 10k's and 2 half marathons last year. This year I finished my first Full Marathon April 6, 2013- major accomplishment.
I have decided having a new view on life that I will run as long as I can to help others which is why, I have joined a charity team for the Marine Corp Marathon. Soldiers and their families are amazing people who have given their all for our freedom I want to give back to them when they return home.
Please help me to reach my fundraising goal for this team and our soldiers. As I run my second marathon in October for our soldiers!
