Heather & Kayvan Bahrami
As most of you know, this is a cause that is close to our heart. We both spend time at the shelter, me in the office, with the dogs and whatever else is needed, and Kayvan helping walk the dogs or assist with fundraisers. We started helping raise funds for this walk 2 years back when we were lucky enough to walk Turbo and Auto, 2 awesome pit brothers. They were adopted not long after and are happily living in homes still today. This walk is the single largest fundraiser of the year for the Worcester County Humane Society. A majority of our operating budget comes from sponsorships and donations and the more we make, the more animals we are able to help. Last year, while I was working the registration desk, Kayvan brought all 4 of our dogs up to the 16th Annual Boardwalkin' for Pets so that they could enjoy the boardwalk and other dogs. We were fortunate that our "tripawd" Savannah came and walked the entire boardwalk with our awesome family. She came with enough spirit and energy that she could have walked the boardwalk at least 2x. Savannah had undergone surgery to remove her leg in December of 2014 due to bone cancer. Despite all odds, with help from some incredible vets at Penn Vet, Savannah made it 364 days after her surgery. She had that fighting spirit right up until the end. It is in her memory that we are participating in the 17th Annual Boardwalkin' for Pets on Saturday, April 23rd.
