Dear Friends and Family,
I hope this message finds you all well and enjoying the start to spring. In the spirit of new, brighter seasons, I’m writing to share with you an exciting project that I’ve decided to become involved with. In June of this year, I'll be running the San Diego Half-Marathon on behalf of the charity Self-Help Africa. This charity is responsible for inspiring and facilitating action on issues that are of great importance to me, including: women's empowerment, food security efforts, and natural resource management.
As a student of sustainable development and an aspiring-change-maker, I find SHA's mission to be of immediate and great relevance to the greater mission of making this world a better place. I am so lucky in my own life to be surrounded by people like all of you who have taught me that working for this lofty goal of a better planet is something each one of us can do at our own level—even in committing to run thirteen miles. I hope to do my part to raise money and awareness for Self-Helf Africa (whose wider mission is more deeply articulated at http://www.selfhelpafrica.org/selfhelp/Main/Home.asp) by participating in this exciting event, and any help you can lend us in this effort would make a world of difference.
I feel tremendously lucky to have your support and love in this adventure and all of the others to come! Thank you for being you and doing what you do, and helping me to do the same.
Wishing you all the best,
