My heart is overjoyed with pride and thankfulness at the amazing support from all of you for our charity Every Mother Counts! We raised $1,300 in one week!! Every morning the kids and I would log on to crowdrise.com to check for the latest donations and there would be many cheers and tears and hugs. The inspiration we all felt carried over into the races. At Saturday's 3K all four little Shipnucks ran their hearts out. (And by the way, I encouraged them to run alone with no parent to chaperone, making them among the few of the younger kids out there by themselves.) Olivia finished in 14:03, Abby was just a couple minutes behind her and Michayla and Ben followed a bit later with huge smiles and strong finishing kicks. For Ben it was his first-ever race and Alan and I and the girls all had tears watching sprint home. They were all out there the next day to cheer for me in the Big Sur Half Marathon. I'd rather not talk about my race - it was my most difficult, with a terrible pain in my foot and an upset stomach, forcing me to stop several times, which I've never, ever done before. I made it home in 2:03, which was a little humbling for a girl who has previously finished in 1:38, but running for such an important cause - and all of you - allowed me to keep a good attitude. I want to thank Alan for being there for all of us every step of the way. The whole weekend was a huge success, and thanks again to all of you for being so giving!
Grateful, Thankful and Heart-full
