BENEFITING: SUSAN G KOMEN MINNESOTA
Why a fundraising goal of $441? On the day of the walk, it will be 441 days since my diagnosis. I'm still here and I'm in the mood to celebrate!
It's easy to make a fun of pink garbage cans, pink-ribbon clothing, sparkly bras and other weird ways that people show their support for those with breast cancer.
Whether people do it as a trend or with true altruism, the dollars that go into research make a difference. There are drugs today that were not available five years ago -- and youth today will likely face a very different diagnosis scenario in 20 years because of today's efforts.
Susan G. Komen offers tremendous resources for those with a breast cancer diagnosis, including clear, objective and reliable information. It also pumps major dollars into research. In 2016, the Susan G. Koman Minnesota group gave out $1.2 million in grants to Minnesota organizations that assistance, education and prevention work. It's a national organization with local impact.
Thank you for joining this team as a walker, a runner or a cheer leader.
