Welcome friends and family!
I'm THRILLED to run the Boston Marathon for Palliative Care awareness and hospice care.
While practicing Internal Medicine as a Hospitalist, I am most drawn to taking care of patients with serious, advanced or life threatening illnesses. Palliative Care Medicine offers a team approach to comfort patients while relieving symptoms of physical, emotional and, or spiritual distress. The patient AND family are the focus of care. DIRECT communication about prognosis and REALISTIC expectations help the patients and their caregivers make choices for goals of care which improves their quality of life as they near the end of life.
As a WIFE, MOTHER of four children and having a BROTHER who is a survivor of Hodgkin's Lymphoma requiring a bone marrow transplant, I am so aware of how PRECIOUS life is and how dear our loved ones are to us. EVERYDAY IS A BLESSING and now I am most grateful to run to help others in their greatest time of need.
I ran my FIRST marathon during medical school and SECOND during my medical residency. It's been my dream to run the Boston Marathon. On behalf of South Shore Hospital, I have worked in community outreach to especially educate seniors on the role of the hospitalist. This is the perfect opportunity to combine running the Boston Marathon and support our community.
Please support me in making Palliative Care awareness and Hospice Care light up in the Boston Marathon!!!
