THE STORY:

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I am extremely excited that I will be running the Boston Marathon this year as a member of the South Shore Hospital Team. This is my 1st time running Boston and I can’t wait to make a right onto Hereford Street!   As I watched my brother cross the finish line last year, I never imagined I would be training to run on April 15th. I had a crazy urge that would not go away until I decided to say yes and join this team…..maybe this is what happens when you turn 40!

My training has started and I have to say I enjoyed my Sunday run with a bit of snow!

My goal is to raise money for The Nina Gorman Fund and I will be running in honor of all of our friends & family members who have battled and continue to battle cancer.  Thank you in advance for your consideration on making a donation to our team.

No amount is too small (or too big for that matter!) Below are some suggested donation amounts that correspond to a certain amount per mile.

$26.20 ($1 per mile)

$54.40 ($2 per mile)

$78.60 ($3 per mile)

$104.80 ($4 per mile)

$131 ($5 per mile)

$262 ($10 per mile)

SOUTH SHORE HOSPITAL INC wrote -

South Shore Hospital, a dynamic, growing regional medical center founded in 1922, exists to benefit the 750,000 residents of Southeastern Massachusetts by promoting good health, and by healing, caring and comforting. As the largest hospital in the region and the 7th largest in Massachusetts, South Shore Hospital receives over 400,000 patient visits each year. Patients and their families have access to the most advanced medical care through the Hospital’s longstanding clinical affiliations with Children’s Hospital, Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women's Hospital.

Members of the 2013 South Shore Hospital Boston Marathon Team have the opportunity to support a variety of programs benefiting South Shore Hospital’s patients and families.

Nina Gorman Fund
The Nina Gorman Fund supports sarcoma care and education at South Shore Hospital. Nina Gorman was a long-time Ocean Spray executive who passed away in February 2011, after a courageous six month battle with liposarcoma. Her fund supports four major areas of care:

  • Special education and technology to enable visiting nurses and Hospice caregivers the give the best possible care to sarcoma patients.
  • Equipment and training to provide clinicians at the South Shore Hospital Cancer Center with more tools to diagnose and treat patients with this rare form of cancer.
  • Clinical research trials.
  • Support services for patients and their families.
