EVENT: 2013 Boston Marathon
Having grown up in RI and been around the Boston Marathon for years, it has always been a dream of mine to be able to cross the finish line on Boylston and proudly say I did it. This dream became confirmed after helping a friend run the last 5 miles and I decided I needed to make it a reality.
After completing my first marathon last year in Chicago, I never thought I would be doing another one so soon after. However, I was granted the opportunity to do it again. Do it all again... 18 weeks of training, running in the snow/rain/wind/sun/hail/heat waves, eating obscene amounts to make up for the calories lost, planning my weekends around when I will be running, not drinking and mentally preparing myself for the hell and torture my body is going to endure. And I could not be more excited.
And this is where I need your help. I have committed to running for South Shore Hospital. I have decided to direct my fundraising efforts towards the cancer care center, in honor of all those who have received excellent care there during their battles with cancer.
In this day and age, almost every one knows someone who has been diagnosed with, lost their life to, beaten or currently battling cancer. Cancer does not limit who it touches, and it affects everyone from the individual, their families, friends, coworkers, neighbors and even enemies. Cancer does not discriminate against anyone and your whole life can be changed when someone you know is diagnosed.
I am honored to be able to run for such a worthy cause and amazing hospital, and I am very excited for this journey.
I am asking you, for your support, whether it be a monetary donation or words of encouragement throughout my training or your physical presence cheering me on the day of. No donation is to small. Every dollar helps. You could also consider sponsoring me for every mile. In case you don't know how long a marathon is, if you give just $1 per mile, that’s only $26.2!!
The Boston Marathon is April 15th and I will need all of your help from here until then to help me. Come on out the day of the race, or if you feel inclined you can always join me on an 18 mile run on a brisk Saturday morning!!
Thank you in advance for you support and I truly appreciate all of your help.
