Thankfully, I don't have to run as many miles as I have to raise dollars. I thank you for any support you can give me!
Here's my story:
Every year I have watched the Boston Marathon, I have always wanted to run it. I've decided that this is the year.
As this is the largest sum of money I have ever attempted to raise, it was important to me to find a cause about which I care deeply. After my friend Ned's devastating car accident in 2005, the prognosis for his future held tremendous doubt about what physical abilities he would be able to regain. At this point, he has received care from Spaulding on and off for the past six years.
Spaulding's therapy has now given me the opportunity to:
Do puzzles with Ned,
Go out for lunch with Ned,
Build ginger bread houses with Ned,
Hear stories about his fishing excursions,
Enjoy his photo journalism,
Exchange emails, texts, and phone calls with Ned,
Read his own hand writing,
Give high fives, fist pounds, and hugs,
...And, during one of my most memorable visits to the Spaulding, I was able to watch Ned walk.
Through my fundraising efforts, I hope to help Spaulding continue to offer these life changing rehabilitation services to Ned and others.
John Wooden said "Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do". Spaulding helped encourage, inspire, and implement this attitude in working to rehab me from my injury.

As our Race for Rehab Marathon Team trains to complete the historic 26.2 miles in April, Spaulding is getting closer to crossing another finish line.
In April 2013, Spaulding will move to a brand new facility in Charlestown. This state-of-the-art facility will be a special resource for Greater Boston, New England, and beyond. It will greatly enhance clinical capacities, provide comfortable and accessible patient accommodations, promote a truly transformative clinical research enterprise, and be a source of aesthetic enjoyment for the community.
Located on a beautiful site with harbor views and dock facilities for therapeutic water sports and community use. The design supports a holistic therapeutic approach that will help restore patients’ independence and facilitate their transition back into the community, while at the same time welcoming the public, at all levels of ability and mobility.
