Please help me in supporting Special Olympics Massachusetts!
I have had the amazing privilege of being a volunteer coach for a Special Olympics Track Team from Newton over the past 5 years. These track athletes and their families are continuously inspiring me, both athletically and personally. I have watched friendships being fostered and courage and confidence strengthened on and off the track. I have witnessed athletes overcoming obstacles both small and large with the encouragement of their teammates and families and have learned the true meaning of community.
These athletes inspire me in a way I could only hope to inspire someone else. And this year, they have inspired me to run my first marathon with the support of my own family and friends. As a diehard sports fan and an avid runner my entire life, I was faced with a challenge of my own last year, sidelined by an ACL injury and reconstructive surgery. The many lessons my team has taught me including patience, determination, and the power of a high five, helped me recover and stay positive. Running the Boston Marathon has always been a dream of mine, but I wanted to run for a cause I felt very passionate about. My fundraising efforts from running the marathon ensure that SOMA can continue to offer year-round athletic programs, competitions and health initiatives that are invaluable to the near 12,000 athletes this program supports. Raising money for the Special Olympics and running on their marathon team is a dream within a dream and I'm honored to have this opportunity.
Thank you for your support!
