Hello again Family & Friends,
At my last appointment with my PH specialist, Dr. Evelyn Horn, I asked what she attributed my 16 years of survival with Pulmonary Hypertension to. We'd just lost another member of my support group, my friend Bernice, and for the umpteenth time, I wondered why some of us survive but so many of us lose the battle with PH. She smiled and reminded me that PH is handled differently by each patient, that we each respond to the mountain of medication we take differently, but that every day, they're getting closer to figuring it out. So, we have to keep fighting to survive and do our best to push the research along.
So again, I reach out to my family and friends for help. For me and my family, for our future generations as our PH is genetic. I've been asking for your help for 10 years now! I hope you're not tired of me asking and please know that I will understand if you're unable to support the walk again this year. I know that kids are heading off to college, houses are bought and sold, and life marches on. I know that I am so, so lucky to still be here to make this 'ask'. So, if you can, please help me and my family by making a donation. And if you can't, that's ok too. But please come to the walk anyway. There's no registration fee and you can just be there to cheer my community on.
Dr. Horn and the other big minds in the PH world think a cure or a life-sustaining treatment for PH can be found IN MY LIFETIME. I believe them and I'm going to do everything in my power to make that happen.
From me and Ken, my Mom and Dad, my whole family, thank you for your love and support. I am eternally grateful.
Much love always, Joanne
