Hi Everyone, I am the volunteer Fundraising Chair for Project Education Sudan, and working on raising money for an event called Climb for Sudan. It goes to a great cause! Read below to learn more about Project Education Sudan and this event! Thanks! - Stephanie Phillips
Building hope in Southern Sudan. Project Education Sudan is a US 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization, and a registered NGO with the government of Southern Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission. PES was created as a partnership of Sudanese and Americans in response to the destruction that resulted from the twenty-year civil war between northern and Southern Sudan. Our mission is to help fund and support indigenous Sudanese organizations and communities that build primary and secondary schools, and to train teachers in rural villages in Southern Sudan. Project Education Sudan believes that sustained prosperity is dependent on the ability of children and adults to receive primary and secondary education and skills training.
Climb for Sudan. Inspired by the "Lost Boys of Sudan" thousand mile journey across three countries, three climbers will summit Colorado's 58 14,000 foot mountains over the course of 70 days to raise 100,000 for the people of South Sudan.
In commemoration of South Sudan's first day of independence, the "Lost Boys of Sudan" will join the climbers on July 9 on Mt. Evans for a day of celebration during the journey of hope, inspiration, and dedication.
The money raised will be used for classroom and dormitory construction projects, helping PES continue to implement, impact and support a solid educational infrastructure for those in need and ultimately, to see that all children of South Sudan receive an education so they may emerge as new leaders of their new nation.
