BENEFITING: STRAY RESCUE OF ST LOUIS
ORGANIZER: STRAY RESCUE OF ST LOUIS
EVENT: 2013 GO! For A Cause
EVENT DATE: Apr 06, 2013
Hello Family and Friends,
I am happy to announce that I am participating in the Go! St. Louis Half Marathon in support of training and enrichment programs for homeless dogs at Stray Rescue of St. Louis. I am running as a member of Stray Rescue's Team Running Buddies. The goal of the Running Buddies Enrichment Program is to build awareness of Stray Rescue’s mission by collaborating with the community’s running enthusiasts, the companies they work for, and the fitness organizations to which they belong. The program seeks to enrich the lives of shelter dogs while making them more adoptable through exercise and exposure to environments outside of the shelter, as well as highlight and strengthen the human/dog bond. Stray Rescue Running Buddies also seek to promote health and wellness for program participants and provide those who cannot own a dog with the opportunity to experience the joy of spending time with them.
This program is a fun, unique, and meaningful way to stay in shape while enriching the lives of shelter dogs as they await their loving forever homes. All participants have to do is visit Stray Rescue’s Pine Street shelter and “check out” their buddy… then they’re off and running!
This year is my first year with Team Running Buddies and the Team's second year participating in the GO! St. Louis races. Last year they were able to raise an incredible $53,000. This year, I want to help contribute to this fabulous organization and my personal goal is $500. I would be very grateful for your support and any amount would help.
Why run for Stray Rescue? I volunteered at Stray Rescue for a year before leaving the St. Louis area. I watched many scared and often injured dogs become loving, playful companions who are ready to enrich the lives of the people that are lucky enough to adopt them. Every penny raised will go directly to the shelter dogs and will help them find loving, caring homes. Thank you for your support!
