BENEFITING: STRAY RESCUE OF ST LOUIS
ORGANIZER: STRAY RESCUE OF ST LOUIS
EVENT: 2013 GO! For A Cause
EVENT DATE: Apr 06, 2013
I started volunteering with Stray Rescue of Saint Louis in August 2011 at the shelter to walk dogs. Less than a month later, I began to foster dogs and puppies, serving as a coordinator at adoption events, and I have also adopted from Stray Rescue myself. This year I am participating as a "Running Buddy" in the GO! Saint Louis 5K to support and bring awareness to the tireless efforts of Stray Rescue of Saint Louis.
Please consider making a donation to help once stray dogs (such as Sweet Baby Ray and Carondelet as pictured) get a second chance at life. Your donation will go towards enrichment and training for the rescued dogs. The running buddies program aids in making the dogs more adoptable through exercise and socialization while helping us prepare for the big event! My goal is to raise at least $500 in donations to help Stray Rescue get more dogs off of the streets and into loving forever homes. Any donated amount is greatly appreciated!

We at Stray Rescue have always known that one of the keys to finding more warm and loving homes for dogs starts immediately after they are rescued from the harsh streets. Once a dog is brought into the shelter and cared for medically, the behavioral rehabilitation process really begins. One of our top priorities is a strong enrichment program, and the Running Buddies program is one of our finest.
The goal of the Running Buddies Enrichment Program is to build awareness of Stray Rescue’s mission by collaborating with our community’s running enthusiasts, the companies they work for, and the fitness organizations to which they belong. The program seeks to enrich the lives of shelter dogs while making them more adoptable through exercise and exposure to environments outside of the shelter, as well as highlight and strengthen the human/dog bond. We also seek to promote health and wellness for program participants and provide those who cannot own a dog with the opportunity to experience the joy of spending time with them.
This program is a fun, unique, and meaningful way to stay in shape while enriching the lives of shelter dogs as they await their loving forever homes. All participants have to do is visit Stray Rescue’s Pine Street shelter and “check out” their buddy… then they’re off and running!
For the second year in a row, members of Team Running Buddies are representing Stray Rescue’s homeless companion animals in the GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend. This compassionate, dynamic community is working hard to raise awareness of the importance of shelter pet enrichment while raising much-needed funding for shelter training and enrichment programs. Please consider joining our cause, and go Team Running Buddies!
