BENEFITING: STRAY RESCUE OF ST LOUIS
ORGANIZER: STRAY RESCUE OF ST LOUIS
EVENT: 2013 GO! For A Cause
EVENT DATE: Apr 06, 2013
Ladies and gentleman, we’d like to introduce Team Canine to 5, running its very first relay in the GO! St. Louis Marathon!
Why are we running? Glad you asked. As you know, Canine to 5 Petsitters’ mission is to not only provide our two-and-four-legged clients with the utmost care and respect, but we strive to support benevolent efforts toward pets and the people who love them through altruism and ACTION. What better way to be active then to run while raising money for the animals and the good folks at Stray Rescue? Through their Team Running Buddies program, we have set a goal of $2000 and we’d like your help reaching that goal. It’s an easy one. If we all pitch in, we can set not only an example of good health and fitness, but of what can happen when a community pulls together for the greater good.
Let’s meet the team!
Andrea - "Running like the wind for animals!"
Andrea lives in the South Hampton neighborhood with her boyfriend Drew and their cat, aptly named "Kitty." Andrea is the Outcome & Information Manager at the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America- St. Louis Chapter. She has run in the Go! St. Louis half marathon and relay in years past, but this year she decided to run for a cause. She chose Stray Rescue because she believes in their mission and believes that all animals deserve a loving home.
Rachael - “Excited to raise money for these beautiful animals.”
Rachael is a client who lives in Soulard. She and her husband have two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels named Simon and Gus. Rachael got inspired to run during the 2011 GO! St. Louis Marathon while cheering on the participants with Simon. She started running immediately and ran her first half-marathon in October, 2011, followed shortly by a full marathon in April. Running is in her blood now.
Reagan - “Striving to meet a goal.”
Reagan is the program director at the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America - St. Louis chapter, and she is also a Canine to 5 client. She lives in the Shaw neighborhood with her husband Rich, dog Ace and cat Razza.
She is running because every animal deserves a forever home. She is running for Stray Rescue because their mission to place abused and neglected animals into loving homes aligns with her personal mission. A long-time animal lover and companion to many animals, she chooses to support organizations that help improve the quality of life for all animals.
Stephanie - “I want to combine personal fitness goals with community engagement to help homeless pets.”
Former classroom teacher and new owner of Canine to 5, brilliant and idea-filled Stephanie is the captain of Team Canine to 5. She ran her first half marathon at the 2012 GO! St. Louis Marathon and raised over $1000 for Stray Rescue through their Team Running Buddies program. She is the proud mama to two dogs, Leila and Annie, and a one-of-a-kind cat named Mia. She is a good friend, has a quick sense of humor and is the reason Emily is running this race.
Team Canine to 5 Cheer Chair
Emily - “When it comes to helping animals, I go the distance.”
Emily is a dedicated animal rescue advocate and she worked as a full-time volunteer in 2012 planning Best Friends Animal Society’s inaugural Strut Your Mutt St. Louis fundraiser, which raised $30,000 for St. Louis’ homeless pets. She jumped at the chance to raise money for Stray Rescue and serve as cheerleader for this team of strong ladies. She has three rescue cats, Roger, Mikey and Mary Margaret (whose life was saved, coincidentally, by Reagan).
