EVENT DATE: Oct 26, 2014
Mileage Tracker: 281
On Sunday, October 26, 2014, I am participating in the 39th annual Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC. This will be my 1st Full Marathon. I have completed quite a few half marathons so I am very excited and up to this challenge!
I also love to run for a great cause. This year, I am running with Team T.A.M.P.A., which is the Tampa Area Marine Parent Association’s (T.A.M.P.A.) charity sports program. Money raised by my efforts will support military families, Tampa’s Run For Fallen memorial weekend, and a scholarship fund.
As you can imagine, running 26.2 miles takes a lot of motivation and inspiration. I will be running in memory of A1C Elizabeth Jacobson (shown in the picture). She was born in Orlando, Florida and she was the first female Airman killed in the line of duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom. This young woman paid the ultimate sacrifice at the age of 21. I have run quite a few times in her memory at the Florida Run for the Fallen event. I will continue to hold her and her family in my thoughts as I train for and run this race.
I am currently on week 8 of my training. I will post updates and photos along the way. I hope that you will be able to support me in my efforts to reach my fundraising goal. I would really appreciate your support for me during this amazing adventure.
