BENEFITING: TRAGEDY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR SURVIVORS
ORGANIZER: TRAGEDY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR SURVIVORS
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
Have you heard? I've been selected as a Team TAPS Ambassador for the TCS New York City Marathon on November 6, 2016. As a Team TAPS Ambassador, I will be running in honor of SPC William Evans. Bill was killed in action on Sept. 19, 2005 in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his M2A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle during combat operations. Bill was a young man who embodied the word FUN. He had a special talent when it came to photography. He was my little brother Gary's best friend. They did everything together, including deploy to Iraq. I will never forget them coming to visit me in Baltimore before they deployed - young men so full of life heading to fight for our country, our freedom. I will pound the pavement through the streets of NYC to honor Brother Bill. Running 26.2 miles pales in comparison to his sacrifice for us. I know he will see me to the finish line!!
