BENEFITING: GOOD DOG AUTISM COMPANIONS
2014 the year of the Good Dog!
I meet a wonderful dog, named Orbit a couple years back and fell in love! He was calm, happy and patient, allowing many to pet him. I learned from his family that he was indeed very special. He is an autism companion. He helps his boy stay calm, allows him independence and helps keep him safe. I talked with Laura, his boy's Mom and learned she was just starting a non-profit organization.
Good Dog! Autism Companions provides more love & acceptance in lives of children with autism, their families & the larger community through autism service dog companionship.
Good Dog! serves families by raising and training autism service dogs for the specific needs of each child/family and by providing education, support and assistance in their fund raising efforts. They also serve parents of children living with autism by providing free unbiased information about the autism service dog arena and assisting them in making just the right decision for their child and their family.
Good Dog! also serves children with autism in the community by orchestrating meet and greets with Good Dogs.
This year I wanted to do something a little different for fund raising, I normally raise for Train 4 Autism and while I will always wear my T4A blue, I'm dedicating my year to a Good Dog! They are a very special organization, I want to bring awareness to them, to help them help others.
I have already started my year with 2 events, Tinkerbell half marathon and the Surf City half marathon. I have at least 3 Triatholons and 3 more half marathons planned. Please join me in my efforts of awareness and help the wonderful organization.
You can find both Train 4 Autism and Good Dog at:
Go check them both out at their websites and on Facebook. Look for Good Dogs, Bucky, Fred and my personal favorite Huckleberry, so cute!
