BENEFITING: NATIONAL AIDS FUND
EVENT DATE: Dec 11, 2011
This year marks the 30th Anniversary of HIV/AIDS, a reminder that we must continue to work together to raise awareness of and stop the spread of HIV/AIDS. On June 30th, I signed up for the "Team To End AIDS" Honolulu Marathon to raise funds for HIV/AIDS programs in Washington, DC through AIDS United, a 501 (c)(3) organization with a mission to endthe AIDS epidemic in the United States.
Today I am issuing a call-to-action for family, friends, and community leaders to please donate to AIDS United by visiting my "Team To EndAIDS" Marathon page. All donations help support AIDS United and the Washington Partnership (an AIDS United community partner) support HIV/AIDS programs and services in the District of Columbia and around the country.
While we have made gains to end AIDS, more support is needed to stop this virus without borders. At three percent, our nation's capitol still has the highest HIV/AIDS prevalence rate in the country. The African American community is disproportionately infected and affected by HIV/AIDS and experience the highest rate of AIDS-related deaths.
Today you can help support HIV/AIDS services and programs by making a donation and educating others about HIV/AIDS. We all can do more.
Thank you for your consideration!
