Dear family and friends,
As exciting as it was last year to run the NYC Marathon, it was even more special to run as part of the Touch Foundation and to help raise money for such a worthy charity.
The Touch Foundation is committed to providing a sustainable solution to healthcare development issues in Tanzania. In the U.S we are privileged to have 1 doctor for every 300 people. In Tanzania they have 1 doctor for every 30,000 people - one of the lowest doctors to patient ratios in the world. This creates staggering statistics: 1 in 9 children will not live to see their 5th birthday; 1 out of 24 mothers will die during childbirth (which is 90 times higher than in the U.S); and Tanzanians in general have a 44% probability of dying before the age of 40.
Last year’s NYC Marathon marked my second marathon. I was prodded off the couch by positive peer pressure to both run another marathon and raise money for the Touch Foundation. This year’s NYC Marathon will mark my 10th Marathon, it will have been a busy year and I couldn’t think of a better race or cause to celebrate this milestone.
Thanks in advance for your kind and generous donation to such a worthy cause.
