EVENT DATE: Oct 30, 2016
Melissa Peplow wrote -We are Vicky and Melissa also known as Team Two for One. We are a rather unique team in that Melissa is legally blind and Vicky, on the other hand is in a wheelchair as a stroke survivor. This is where the Two for One comes in. Melissa uses her TWO good legs to help push mainly on hills and uneven terrain while Vicky uses her Right arm, Right leg and TWO big wheelchair wheels to "run" (well roll). Together we work as ONE team. In spite of our limitations and with God's help, and your help, we are determined to use what we do have to the max. We also strive to help encourage others to do the same. Last year at this same event, we experienced inclusion like we have never seen before. This was our first marathon and we were so very honored to run with this amazing charity, Ainsley's Angels of America. After such an incredible experience, we knew almost immediately that we wanted to do it all over again in 2016. So here we are. This time though, we want to focus on helping to bring inclusion to our local area though our newly formed chapter of Ainsley's Angels of East Tennessee. Our fundraising goal this year is $1,775 which will not only allow both of us to run in the MCM, but we will also be able to acquire a freedom jogger chair to donate to our local chapter giving a special needs individual the opportunity to roll with the wind. Ainsley's Angels of America (www.ainsleysangels.org) helps to provide special needs and disabled youth and adults (athlete riders) with specialized jogging chairs, freedom chairs, so that able bodied individuals (angels) can push them in endurance races such as the Marine Corps Marathon. This helps to promote inclusion of ALL individuals in events such as this To learn even more about our crazy journey, you may find us on our Facebook page "With a Will there is a Way". Thank you all so very much for your support not only to Team Two for One but also to Ainsley's Angels of America. Please remember no donation is too small. Thank you so very much for your support.
