BENEFITING: U.S. Fund for UNICEF
ORGANIZER: U.S. Fund for UNICEF
EVENT DATE: Nov 03, 2013
Team UNICEF has elected to extend our fundraiser in light of the devastation facing the Philippines from Typhoon Haiyan. Over 4 million people are affected by this storm, having lost their homes, their possessions, their supply of food, water, and medicine, their loved ones, and for some, their lives. Please help UNICEF reach the 1.7 million children affected by this storm. In disasters, children are the most vulnerable, so UNICEF is rushing food, water, medical supplies, and shelter equipment to the Philippines by emergency airlift. Please support this important cause. Thank you!
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my fundraising page!
I'm really excited about the opportunity to fundraise for this amazing cause, UNICEF, and to train for the physical challenge of running 26.2 miles in the 2013 ING NYC Marathon.
I have chosen UNICEF as my charity for this event because I believe strongly in their mission and the work they do for children all around the world. I was involved with UNICEF at Vassar during my undergraduate years, and just finished a year of service as a US Fund for UNICEF Campus Initiative National Council member. Central to UNICEF's work is the tenet of Believe in ZERO, which means that we work to eliminate the number of children under age five that are dying of preventable causes. At this time, 18,000 children under age 5 around the world die every single day from totally preventable causes, such as lack of clean water, nutritious food, vaccinations, medical attention, sanitation, etc. I put my faith in UNICEF because thanks largely to their hard work, that statistic represents nearly a 50% decrease from 1990.
UNICEF fights for the survival and development of all children, in all situations, all of the time. This relentless conviction has propelled UNICEF to help save more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization. We believe in a world where there are ZERO starving children, ZERO exploited children, ZERO children denied an education, and ZERO children deprived of clean water. Please help us get closer to a day when every child has a safe and healthy childhood. You can learn more at www.unicefusa.org .
I hope you agree that this is a cause worth fighting for!
I would love to have your support as I take on this huge challenge. On November 3rd, I will run 26.2 miles with Team UNICEF, and before that race, I will raise $3,500 for children in need around the world. If you have any questions about this, please reach out to me at email@example.com; I would love to hear from you! While you're here on my fundraising webpage, I hope you'll be able to make a donation to UNICEF, using the orange "Donate" button on the right. I will appreciate any sized donation you can afford to give, and I'm grateful that you've even taken the time to visit my webpage and read through all of this! Without your support, this wouldn't be possible. You're helping UNICEF make a difference already; you're great!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
