BENEFITING: UNICEF USA
ORGANIZER: UNICEF USA
EVENT DATE: Nov 03, 2013
Dear Family and Friends –
I’m just 3 days away from tackling one item on my bucket list that I never thought I would get to: the ING New York City Marathon! Training for the marathon has reinvigorated and challenged me personally like never before. Thank you all so much for your support and words of encouragement during this amazing adventure.
As most of you know, it has been a hectic and demanding few months for me. What has kept me going is knowing that I will run in support of UNICEF – the lead UN agency supporting children. (With Halloween today, I’m sure you all have memories of Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF..nickels instead of chocolate!)
As a prerequisite for running, I have pledged to raise at least $3,700 by year-end for Team UNICEF.
I hope you will consider making a donation to support my run, and more importantly help children in need. Any amount will help -- here are a few examples of the immediate and direct connection between your personal generosity and the number of children’s lives that can be saved:
· A gift of $37, will provide a full Baby Scale set to prevent childhood malnutrition, plus a pack of five weighing trousers and earn the gratitude of countless moms.
· A gift of $50, you will provide enough vaccines to immunize 91 children against polio for life, or two cartons of high energy/protein biscuits that are specifically developed to nurse malnourished children back to health.
· A gift of $125 can help more babies be born free from HIV by providing tests for 100 expectant mothers or a bicycle for delivering health care.
· A gift of $1,000 buys an extra-large, heavy duty tent for use as a medical clinic or temporary school.
For those US-based, the donation is tax-deductible contribution and 91% of every dollar raised benefits the programs directly. Thank you for standing with me, UNICEF and the children of the world.
I would love to see you in the crowds on Sunday, or at an afterparty celebration at Cask located at 167 East 33rd Street (between Lexington and Third Avenues). If all goes according to plan, I should be there at 5 PM.
Thanks again for your support,
UNICEF fights for the survival and development of all children, in all situations, all of the time. This relentless conviction has propelled UNICEF to help save more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization. We believe in a world where there are ZERO starving children; ZERO exploited children; ZERO children denied an education, and ZERO children deprived of clean water. By joining Team UNICEF, you will help us get closer to a day when every child has a safe and healthy childhood.
