Hello friends and family!
This November I will be running my first ever marathon (!!!) as a part of Team UNICEF and I couldn’t be more thrilled to not only participate in one of the most prestigious running events in the world, but represent an organization that works to make a monumental difference in children’s lives. My intrinsic desire to make a difference coupled with running the NYC Marathon being on my ultimate life goals / bucket list makes this fundraising opportunity the perfect fusion of all the things I love!
UNICEF does whatever it takes to save and protect the world's most vulnerable children. By running for UNICEF, I know that with every day that I train and every mile that I run, I am doing my part in ensuring that less children are being affected by preventable causes.
Members of Team UNICEF NYC have committed to each raise a minimum of $3,500 in support of UNICEF's work worldwide. I hope you consider in joining me to support UNICEF's mission!
Here are a few examples of what your money could do:
- $20 could provide polio vaccines to protect 115 children from this highly contagious viral infection;
- $30 could provide 10 mosquito nets that will protect children and their families from malaria;
- $50 could provide 49 HIV/AIDS test kits for expectant mothers, so they can receive treatment and reduce the chance of a mother with HIV passing the virus to her baby.
If all of your team members come together, you could aim even higher:
- $350 could provide a hand water pump and help provide clean, safe drinking water for a village, school or a community in a developing country; $1,400 could provide a large versatile tent that can be used for a temporary school or health centre and $1,300 could provide 10 bicycles that UNICEF staff will use to distribute vaccines, drugs and health care in remote villages.
