BENEFITING: Urban Initiatives
ORGANIZER: Urban Initiatives
Friends and family,
I'm running the Chicago Marathon for Urban Initiatives. I've never run a marathon before and I don't know if I'll ever sign up to do one again, but supporting Urban Initiatives makes all the pain and suffering worthwhile. I started CARA's novice training program in June and I have worked my way up from long runs of six miles to a personal high of 16 miles last weekend. I have seven more weeks to go and I feel like completing the marathon is within reach. Please help motivate me to get through my training and to complete the marathon by donating to Urban Initiatives!
Members of the Urban Initiatives Marathon Team are raising funds in support of Urban Initiatives’ programming at Nathanael Greene Elementary school in McKinley Park. The funds we raise will help sponsor 35 children on Greene’s team for the entire 2014-2015 school year, providing the players with quality coaching, nutritious snacks at games and practices, game day and field trip busing, and a safe playing space.
Urban Initiatives currently serves over 12,500 Chicago Public School students at 32 schools throughout the city. UI programs take a collaborative, whole child approach to development in order to provide children with the opportunity to reach their full potential. Participants in our programs have experienced boosts in areas such as academic engagement, health awareness, and self-esteem.
Please join me in helping UI provide opportunities for Chicago's children!
Thank you so much for your support,
