BENEFITING: USO of Central and Southern Ohio
ORGANIZER: USO of Central and Southern Ohio
EVENT: Team USO
Raised in a military family, I had unique opportunities to live in and experience the culture of many countries around the world. Seven years of my life were spent in Germany. One of the most significant events in my life included the famous speech that former President Reagan delivered in West Germany at the Brandenburg gate. The cold war was at its height, the wall would in fact be torn down and the Soviet Union would fall. I attended the speech with my Dad and brother and even at ten years old I understood the significance of his speech. Years later, I realize that I had lived through a pivotal point in history.
In 1998, I joined the United States Air Force to serve my country. I began my duties in Colorado at Peterson air Force Base. Due to my performance, I was selected by my command to serve on an elite guard detail for the United States Aerospace Command. As part of this, I met high level military officials, to include our commander in chief. My unit had the distinct honor of guarding Air Force One during each of its visits to Peterson, AFB. I toured this remarkable aircraft and was presented a signed copy of Air Force One, by former President Bill Clinton. After my active duty tour, I later joined the United States Air Force Reserves. I applied for the JAG (Judge Advocate General) program and endured a rigorous application process. After much hard work, I was accepted to serve with the legal department of the United States Air force Reserve as a Paralegal. I have attended several different comprehensive training programs at the Dickinson Law Center at Maxell Air Force base throughout my career as a military paralegal.
My varied work and life experiences have provided me insights to the opportunities around me. Team USO is just one of those opportunities, in which I can do what I love and give back to the military. I want to make a difference in the lives of people, especially those that have dedicated their lives to our country.
