BENEFITING: Fraxa Research Foundation
EVENT DATE: Jun 01, 2013
Fragile X is a genetic syndrome that is the most widespread single-gene cause of autism and inherited cause of mental retardation among boys. It results in a spectrum of intellectual disabilities ranging from mild to severe as well as physical characteristics such as an elongated face, large or protruding ears, and large testes and behavioral characteristics such as stereotypic movements (e.g. hand-flapping), and social anxiety.
With a year of experience under their belt, Team Verde is looking to build on last tournament's success. Put together at the last minute, Verde had the benefit of uniting four players who had been playing together their whole lives. Following a grueling first round loss, Verde rebounded to win back to back games before running out of gas in their fourth match-up of the day. That perseverance, combined with the experience gained and commitment to defense, should position Verde for an even bigger run in this years tournament.
Our Team has been sponsored by a long-time participant in Patrick's Pals. We came last year for the competition, but what we saw was more than that. The day was more of a coming together for a community that has a goal in mind of being able treat and cure Fragile X. With that in mind, Team Verde is asking you to help support our efforts, and this communities efforts to bring awareness, and raise critical funding for these initiatives. Every donation is important, and no donation is too small. We would love for you to be a part of Team Verde's efforts to help. Thank You.
